VeriGoldTM fPSA

The VeriGoldTM Free Prostate-Specific Antigen (fPSA) Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay developed for the quantitative detection of free prostate-specific antigen (fPSA) in human serum or plasma. The assay is intended for professional in-vitro diagnostic use in clinical laboratories, healthcare facilities, and physician offices. By providing rapid and convenient measurement of fPSA levels, the test supports timely patient evaluation in point-of-care settings.

Free PSA testing, when used in combination with total PSA measurement, serves as a valuable tool for supporting prostate cancer screening and clinical assessment in adult male patients. The ratio between free PSA and total PSA may help improve differentiation between benign prostate conditions and prostate cancer. Test results should always be interpreted together with clinical findings and other diagnostic procedures.

Sample Types Serum or plasma
Sample Volume 100 µL
Collection Method Venous blood
Sample Stability Stable for testing within 1 hour at room temperature (as validated)
Acceptable Anticoagulants EDTA / Heparin / Citrate (as applicable)
Notes on Handling Specimens should be collected and handled using standard laboratory procedures. Use fresh samples when possible and avoid hemolyzed, lipemic, or contaminated specimens.
Detection Method Immunochromatography
Antibody Format Monoclonal / sandwich
Signal Generation Colloidal gold
Reading Method Instrument-based
Mechanism The assay is based on a sandwich chromatographic immunoassay principle, where free PSA present in the sample binds to labeled anti-fPSA antibodies during capillary migration through the membrane. The resulting antigen–antibody complexes are captured by immobilized antibodies in the test region, producing a measurable signal proportional to the free PSA concentration in the specimen.
