VeriGoldTM Adenovirus
The VeriGoldTM Adenovirus Rapid Test is a qualitative in vitro immunochromatographic assay for the rapid detection of adenovirus antigens in human fecal samples. The test is intended to support the detection of adenovirus infection in individuals with acute gastroenteritis. Adenovirus is a common cause of gastroenteritis in children, although it can also affect adults, particularly immunocompromised individuals.
As a non-invasive qualitative test, results are reported simply as positive or negative, enabling rapid bedside or laboratory decision-making without specialized equipment. Results are available within minutes from a fecal sample. This test is useful for supporting the differentiation of adenoviral gastroenteritis from bacterial or other viral causes, aiding appropriate patient management and timely infection control measures in pediatric wards, emergency departments, and outpatient clinics.

| Sample Stability | Stable for testing within 1 hour at room temperature (as validated) |
| Acceptable Anticoagulants | EDTA / Heparin / Citrate (as applicable) |
| Notes on Handling | Specimens should be collected and handled using standard laboratory procedures. Use fresh samples when possible and avoid hemolyzed, lipemic, or contaminated specimens. |
| Detection Method | Immunochromatography |
| Antibody Format | Monoclonal / sandwich |
| Signal Generation | Colloidal gold |
| Reading Method | Visual |
| Mechanism | The assay is based on an immunochromatographic lateral flow principle, in which adenovirus antigens present in the fecal sample bind to specific labeled antibodies during migration along the membrane by capillary action. The resulting antigen–antibody complexes are captured by immobilized antibodies at the test line, producing a visible signal indicating the presence of adenovirus antigen in the specimen. |
