VeriLumenTM BNP

The VeriLumenTM BNP Rapid Test is a fluorescence immunochromatographic assay for the quantitative detection of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) in human whole blood, plasma, or serum samples. BNP is a cardiac biomarker released from ventricular myocardium in response to increased wall stress and volume overload, and is used in the clinical evaluation of patients with suspected or confirmed heart failure. The assay provides rapid quantitative results to support timely clinical assessment in laboratory and point-of-care settings.

BNP is commonly used in the assessment of acute or symptomatic presentations of heart failure, where a rapid indication of current cardiac stress is required. It is frequently applied in emergency and point-of-care settings to support early clinical decision-making. Quantitative BNP measurement supports clinical evaluation when interpreted together with clinical findings and other diagnostic information.

Notes on Handling Specimens should be collected and handled using standard laboratory procedures. Use fresh samples when possible and avoid hemolyzed, lipemic, or contaminated specimens.
Detection Method Quantitative fluorescence immunochromatography
Antibody Format Monoclonal / sandwicht
Signal Generation Fluorescence signal (fluorescent-labeled immunochromatography)
Reading Method Instrument-based
Mechanism The assay is based on a fluorescence immunochromatographic sandwich principle, in which B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) present in the sample binds to specific fluorescently labeled anti-BNP antibodies during capillary migration along the membrane. The resulting antigen–antibody complexes are captured by immobilized antibodies at the test region, and the fluorescence signal is measured and correlated with the BNP concentration in the specimen.
