VeriGoldTM PCT
The VeriGoldTM Procalcitonin (PCT) Rapid Test is an in vitro immunochromatographic assay for the quantitative detection of procalcitonin (PCT) in human whole blood, plasma, or serum. Procalcitonin is a biomarker associated with systemic bacterial infection, inflammatory response, and sepsis, and its concentration may increase significantly during bacterial infections while remaining comparatively low in most viral infections. The assay provides rapid quantitative results to support timely clinical evaluation in laboratory and point-of-care settings.
This test is intended to aid in the differentiation between bacterial and viral infections, supporting clinical assessment and patient management decisions. | Mechanism | The assay is based on a sandwich immunochromatographic principle, in which procalcitonin (PCT) present in the sample binds to specific labeled antibodies during lateral flow migration along the membrane. The resulting antigen–antibody complexes are captured by immobilized antibodies at the test line, producing a signal proportional to the PCT concentration in the specimen. |
