VeriGoldTM RSV

The VeriGoldTM RSV Rapid Test is a qualitative immunoassay for the rapid detection of respiratory syncytial virus antigen directly from nasopharyngeal swab specimens in symptomatic patients. The test helps in the rapid diagnosis of acute RSV infection, providing results within minutes to support early clinical decision-making in pediatric and adult settings.

The test is intended for professional use and may support clinical care during periods of increased respiratory virus circulation, facilitating timely patient triage and clinical management in acute care settings. Negative results do not exclude RSV infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or other patient management decisions, as results are presumptive. Confirmation by additional methods such as cell culture may be considered where appropriate.

Notes on Handling Specimens should be collected and handled using standard laboratory procedures. Use fresh samples when possible and avoid hemolyzed, lipemic, or contaminated specimens.
Detection Method Immunochromatography
Antibody Format Monoclonal / sandwich
Signal Generation Colloidal gold
Reading Method Visual
Mechanism The assay is based on an immunochromatographic lateral flow principle, in which respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) antigens present in the nasopharyngeal specimen bind to specific labeled antibodies during migration along the membrane by capillary action. The resulting antigen–antibody complexes are captured by immobilized antibodies at the test line, producing a visible signal indicating the presence of RSV antigen in the sample.
