VeriGoldTM Quantitative Gold-Conjugated Immunoassay
Colloidal gold consists of gold nanoparticles dispersed in an aqueous solution. These nanoparticles are typically formed by reducing chloroauric acid using reducing agents such as sodium citrate, ascorbic acid, or white phosphorus, converting Au³⁺ ions into elemental gold. By adjusting the type and concentration of the reducing agent, the particle size can be precisely controlled, which in turn influences optical properties and assay performance.
In quantitative gold-conjugated immunoassays, colloidal gold is used as a signal label in immunochromatographic systems. After sample application, antigen–antibody complexes form on the test membrane and generate a visible signal at the test line. The signal intensity is then measured using a dedicated reader based on image analysis or optical density detection, enabling conversion into a numerical value. This allows accurate quantification of target analytes while maintaining the simplicity and speed of rapid testing, making the format well suited for point-of-care testing (POCT).

In qualitative gold-conjugated immunoassays, colloidal gold serves as a visual label in immunochromatographic rapid tests. When a sample is applied, target analytes bind to specific antibodies and are captured on the test line, where accumulated gold nanoparticles produce a visible colored band. The presence or absence of this band indicates a positive or negative result, respectively. This format enables fast, instrument-free interpretation and is widely used in decentralized and point-of-care testing scenarios where simplicity and speed are essential.

VeriLumenTM Fluorescence Immunoassay
Fluorescence immunoassays are a class of analytical techniques that rely on the principle of fluorescence, in which specific molecules emit light after being excited by a defined wavelength of electromagnetic radiation. In immunoassay applications, fluorescent labels are conjugated to antibodies or antigens, allowing the formation of immune complexes that generate measurable optical signals. The intensity of the emitted fluorescence is directly related to the concentration of the target analyte, enabling sensitive and quantitative detection.
KSB has developed a range of diagnostic reagents based on fluorescence immunoassay technology. These assays are designed for use in combination with fluorescence readers that perform signal excitation and detection to ensure accurate quantification. In clinical practice, this platform offers high sensitivity, rapid turnaround time, and stable analytical performance, making it highly suitable for point-of-care testing (POCT) applications.
