The VeriLumen^TM PCT + IL-6 Rapid Test is an in vitro fluorescence immunochromatography assay for the quantitative detection of procalcitonin (PCT) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in human whole blood, plasma, or serum. PCT is a biomarker associated with systemic bacterial infection, inflammatory response, and sepsis, and its concentration may increase significantly during bacterial infections while remaining comparatively low in most viral infections.
